Setting Sale (sorry …)
As buildouts go, I think we are just about on track. I feel like it will always be arduous, will always feel like it takes forever, and buildouts will almost always encounter unexpected costs. But the final steps of the underlayment on the removable lab flooring is under way. I’m buying paint for the Front of House changes, WE HAVE MERCHANDISE! And we are going to host a Sidewalk Sale on Nov. 4 to help promote it and raise funds as we continue our progress.
The proceeds from this sale will help replenish our bank account and allow this buildout to happen faster. I think we can still shock people by opening within a certain time frame, but the path to that is paved with support. Obviously with financial support, but we also have received help from volunteers.
Meagan and Chantze helped a good deal with cutting and hauling underlayment materials, and they’ll continue helping with the tedious task of installing the waterproof tiling we will use for the wet lab spaces.
I’ve known Meagan for more than a decade, and met her when she was a student at Kilgore College, taking journalism and photography courses. I was an assistant/adviser at KC then, and students like Meagan made that job a truly enjoyable experience.
I just met Chantze recently, but am thrilled that he has gotten into film photography, and he’s already been a huge help in preparing things. He’s a native digital photographer, so I’m thrilled for him to be making the dive into the analog space.
Additionally, we received our first material donation from the Wish List! This curtain rod system is integral to my plans for the Developing Room, as shown in the 4th picture in the gallery below. If you wish to contribute that way, hit is up at: https://www.myregistry.com/giftlist/pineywoodsdarkroom
But for now, it’s back to work. The poster photo links to our event up there, by the way!. Check it out, and hopefully we’ll see you there. :) (RSVP on Facebook if you can!)
