Texas Floor

OSB sheathing and waterproof vinyl plank: Two parts of the ways I’ll cover the carpet in the wet labs. Those planks are freaking HEAVY.

It deosn’t look like much, but this is a huge portion of what will cover the carpets in the developing and printing spaces where water will be running, and two of the larger steps we have to complete to get the darkroom open. That door you see in the middle of the frame is going to go to the black and white printing lab, where a little more than half of all of this stuff will be used to cover the carpets.

This OSB underlayment will primarily provide a good surface for the vinyl planks to sit on, as I have read a lot about the cracking apart, even on low-pile carpeting such as this. I’ll go into more detail as I assemble the floor covers, which I badly want to do before getting the sinks in their respective spaces, and that will lead up to the most major expense: Installing and modifying the plumbing.

We have a good plan and I’ve been impressed by our plumbers, and I’m excited to get things in the right place to get to that step.

There’s a lot more to do than the labs and sinks, but those are definitely the most expensive steps. Speaking of expense … we’ve got to start raising money again and since we can’t quite charge lab access fees or teach classes yet, we have some fun stuff for you to buy!

I had more, but they’ve already sold out. :)

So that’s a surprisingly full post for today! The more you donate, the better and faster we can do this. But anyway, SO FREAKING EXCITED. THANK YOU!

P.S. How’s that title for a Stevie Ray Vaughan reference even SRV fans won’t notice?
